Rockfade Barber Lounge
The first objective was to help name the barbershop. Rockfade was a result of mixing Rockford and the word fade - which is what the barbers are known for. The owners fell in love with how Rockfade sounds similar to Rockford and felt it was a clever way of connecting what they do with the city they serve. The name set the tone for the rest of the brand's image and helped shape one of the city's most distinct household brand names.
One of the key components of the Rockfade identity was making the distinction from being a barbershop to being a barber lounge. The owners were adamant of creating a brand that provides classic clean fades but creating a modern experience where clients feel like its a place of relaxation and enjoyment. To create the proper image, the brand needed to have a vintage feel by nature but presented in a way that feels modern and clean.
LOGO SYSTEM & VARIATIONS

The owners of Rockfade wanted to give their shop a vintage vibe and felt it was important that the lettering reflected the classic look of old school barbershops. The primary type of the brand needed to have a bold look to be able to provide a solid foundation for the Rockford skyline. The lettering we chose to work with was carefully chosen so that the barbershop's exterior signage was easy to read and was eye-catching from a distance.
Creating a vintage look with a tasteful color system.
On top of creating an old-time barbershop look, the owners of Rockfade wanted to present the brand in an elegant and classy way. The lettering gave the brand its retro look but the colors played an important role in creating a tasteful and sophisticated identity. The deep navy was inspired by the blue found in barbershop poles. The cream and dark bronze help give the brand an aesthetically pleasing contrast that feels fresh.
SOCIAL MEDIA DESIGNS
Social media designs were created to assist Rockfade Barber Lounge with their haircut bookings. The idea was to create a pack of designs that announced when openings become available to their customers. Each of the three barbers are consistently booked so they needed a strategy to help connect with their customers once there was an opportunity for a last minute haircut appointment. This also helped the barbershop fill in appointments when there would be last minute cancellations in their schedule.
